Frequently Asked Questions

Selling

How do I list my car?

Create your free account, add your car with photos and a price, and submit. Your listing goes live on CampusCarLot.com under your campus, where students actually shop. It takes a few minutes, and it is free.

List your car

Does it cost anything to list?

No. Listing is always free, and it stays free. Premium is an optional upgrade if you want your car promoted — never required.

Do you buy my car?

No. We are a marketplace, not a buyer. You list your car, buyers contact you through the site, and you keep the full sale price.

I am graduating (or leaving for the summer). When should I list?

As early as you can. Cars sell fastest when buyers can come see them, and the end-of-semester rush cuts both ways — lots of sellers, but also lots of students arriving who need wheels. A fair price and clear photos move a car quickly.

How do I add or change photos?

Log in, open your listings, and choose Edit. Add, change, or remove photos there — changes take effect right away. Front, back, sides, interior, and odometer shots are what buyers look for.

How do I edit or remove my listing?

Log in and open your listings: Edit changes anything, Remove takes it down. When your car sells, please mark it Sold.

What is Premium?

Premium is a one-time $19.95 upgrade for a single listing. Every listing starts free; Premium adds promotion — featured placement and posts on CampusCarLot's social channels, so more students see your car sooner.

Buying

How do I contact a seller?

Message the seller right through the listing page with your free account. Your phone number and email are never shown to anyone — messaging stays inside the site.

Is it safe? How do I avoid scams?

Keep the conversation inside the site's messaging. Meet on campus or somewhere public, see the car in person, and never wire money or pay for a car you have not seen. CampusCarLot.com never handles payment for a vehicle and will never ask you to pay for one.

Do I need an account to browse?

No. Looking is free and open. You need a free account only to message a seller or list a car.

I am buying my first car. What should I check?

See it in person, take a test drive, and ask about the title — the seller should have a clean title in their name. Check the basics (tires, brakes, fluids, warning lights), and if you are spending real money, a quick inspection at a local shop is money well spent.

Dealers

I sell cars near a campus. How do I reach students here?

Dealer packages put every one of your listings in Premium automatically and give your dealership a profile on the site. Contact us through the site and we will put together the right package for your campus.
